There's a point in everyone's life where they've got to ask themselves a question: Who am I? And the even bigger question: Am I happy with who I am? I'm here to delve into the rabbit hole with you and find some answers...kicking lies in the face while we're at it, of course.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Tracy, but I've been called many other names: ugly, chubby and awkward are just a few. As a child, I may not have introduced myself as "ugly" to the new neighbors across the street, but the girl in the mirror knew exactly who I was. She didn't change her mind when teenage and adult years came along either. I looked into the mirror and I was ugly and chubby. That was final.
What a travesty it is that for 3/4 of my existing life I didn't know who I truly was. I thought that the God of the Universe couldn't do any better than to make a mediocre and unworthy human being such as myself. I knew what God "said" about me in the Bible. I knew what friends "said" about me to encourage me. But they all seemed so far fetched and didn't seem to stick with what I saw in my reflection. What a smile Satan must have had at this point! I can just imagine him lounging back with a sinister grin, chuckling and rubbing his hands together. Ick! Thinking about that made me realize that I didn't ever want to give him that kind of satisfaction by believing lies about myself!
I tell you this not to share a sob story of any sort, but the exact opposite. As a beautifully, fearfully and wonderfully made child of God, I feel that it's my job to say something to anyone who's being told lies about their value and worth in Christ. God is not simply patting you on the back in the background saying "there, there." He is up in Satan's face saying "Get off my kid, Satan! It's my turn and this one is mine!" Do you believe it? That God would fight for you and has made you to be more? Well believe it. It's the way it is and always has been, regardless of what feelings may have said to dispute it.
Something that you may not realize is that a war is being waged for your life. (Ephesians 6:12) You are someone so precious and so valuable to God that Satan knows the best way to get at Him. It's to try and steal you away. He has used any means possible to interrupt God's truth of who you REALLY are...because if you really knew your true identity in the Lord...you'd be a force to be reckoned with. Someone so powerful that nothing Satan could do would get in the way of the supernaturally anointed warrior you would be come. It's time that we start walking in our true identities and have Satan and his lies running scared! Link arms, join the regime of the winning side with me and buy into the truth of who you are in His story of all time. You are precious, you are His. You are a prince or a princess of the utmost value!
Here are just a few truths I invite you to meditate on about WHO YOU ARE!:
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."-Genesis 1:27
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure."-1 John 3:1-3
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."-Jeremiah 1:5
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."-1 Peter 2:9
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."-1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God."-Ephesians 2:19
"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well."-Psalm 139:14
"But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord seees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart."-1 Samuel 16:7
"But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."-1 Peter 3:3
"But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine."-Isaiah 43:1
"For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."-Galatians 3:27-29
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."-Galatians 2:20
"As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steafast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children."-Psalm 103:15-17
Phew, that's a smorgasbord right there! They were too good to leave any out. I want you to know that I love you, but more importantly, God loves you. I think that you're amazing, but more importantly, He made you worthy!
Ask Him to show you who you are...it's pretty fabulous.
Be blessed and share it!
Loves,
Tracy the Imperfect Missionary
